Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 14: Although political parties of Jammu and Kashmir are over enthusiastic over a meeting called by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday, this much-publicized meeting has nothing special about the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Leaders of political parties are thinking that the meeting has been called by ECI to discuss the next assembly elections in J&K but the meeting is convened only to demonstrate the functioning of the multi-constituency prototype Remote Voting Machine. The ECI has developed a remote electronic voter machine (RVM) with migrant voters in mind. Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 14: The sun shone in parts of Kashmir on Saturday as the latest spell of snowfall, which continued intermittently for three days, ended in the region. Srinagar and other plains of valley received the season's first snowfall during the last 24 hours. The snowfall in most parts of the valley including Srinagar had ended by late Friday. Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 14: Two avalanches hit Sarbal area near the tourist destination of Sonamarg in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Saturday evening, sources said. As of now it is unclear whether anyone was injured in the incident. They said two avalanches simultaneously hit Sarbal colony in Sonamarg at 5:30 pm damaging a workshop. Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 14: Jammu and Kashmir authorities on Saturday issued a ‘high danger’ avalanche warning for the Kupwara district of north Kashmir. Avalanche warnings have been issued for 12 districts, including Kupawara which witnessed moderate to heavy snowfall a day before.
