NC, others to raise issue of JK Assembly elections with ECI today

Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 15: Even as the National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party from J&K are among 57 regional political parties invited by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to participate in a meeting to “Improve voter participation of domestic migrants using remote voting” on January 16 in New Delhi, some of the prominent parties including the NC are likely to raise the issue of much awaited Assembly elections in J&K. Sources said the NC has briefed it’s representative for the meeting to raise the issue of the holding of elections with the ECI in the national capital “if such a situation arises.” A senior NC conference leader told the Early Times that his party would raise the issue of elections “if they get such feelers at the national level meeting.” The NC has been saying that the elections should be held in Jammu and Kashmir to mitigate the “sufferings of the common people.” It was reliably learnt that apart from the NC, the regional parties like Mamata Banerjee led TMC and Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmit Party were likely to raise the issue of...
