Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 24: The casual approach of Irrigation Department for not conducting proper survey before taking up irrigation schemes has resulted in abandonment of many projects midway due to technical glitches erupted while their execution causing huge loss of funds. Sources told Early Times that two irrigation projects were taken by the department for district Doda got withheld after incurring over Rs80 lakhs due to development of sliding zone and non clearance from forest department while execution of these projects. “As per guidelines, preliminary survey, geological investigation have to be conducted, forest clearance is required from the concerned department before taking up projects but non-fulfilment of pre-requisites led to non-development of project and consequently resulted in abandonment/ change of proposals,” they said. Agencies New Delhi, Jan 24: The final touches for the domicile policy in Jammu and Kashmir have been given by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The policy is aimed at providing protection for the land and job rights for the people of the newly created Union Territory. The policy may be announced anytime soon, a source confirmed to OneIndia. The announcement was expected to be made last week, but there were some final touches that needed to be given and hence it took time, the officer at the MHA said. Early times report Jammu, Jan 24: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday directed officers to close all official accounts in banks other than the J&K Bank by January 31 or face stern disciplinary action. The J&K administration had last year issued a direction to accounts officers and drawing and disbursing (DDOs) asking them to open official accounts only in J&K Bank.
