BJP ditched Ladakh, Ladakh decimated it
Message for MoS in PMO
10/20/2018 10:35:53 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: It's true that the BJP swept ULB polls in South Kashmir. But it is also true that the people of Kashmir had boycotted the polls at the instance of separatists and parties like the NC and the PDP didn't contest elections. Of course, victory is a victory but not the kind of victory the BJP could celebrate. The BJP won many seats unopposed and it will now control in Kashmir half a dozen municipal councils and municipal committees. The poll outcome in Kashmir is not that significant given the fact that it was virtually a no election. What is important are the two messages for the BJP, one each from Ladakh and Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency. In L...

10/20/2018 10:35:33 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: Ignoring Choudhary Lal Singh any more, is likely to prove heavy for Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) as many independent candidates close to him have won in various municipal committees of district Kathua. It has become very tough for BJP to control various municipal units such as Kathua Municipal Council, Lakhanpur Municipal Committee and Nagri Municipal committee as independent candidates are game changers. In the Lakhanpur Municipal Committee, which has a total of 7 seats, three independent candidates close to Choudhary Lal Singh have won seats beating the candidates of BJP. These candidates are Sardar Darshan Singh from ward number 4, Kanta Devi from ward...

10/20/2018 10:35:21 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: Kashmir centric parties National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have been left speechless as the results of the Urban Local Bodies polls have paved the way for national parties to strengthen their foothold in the strife torn Valley. The NC and PDP while announcing their decision to boycott the ULB polls had claimed that situation is not conducive for holding any elections in the state. But they have been proven wrong. Despite PDP and NC staying away from elections the Government of India went ahead with the exercise and ensured that ULB polls are held. "Results have thrown no surprises. 10/20/2018 10:21:11 PM
Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 20: In this age of information technology when the whole world is on a finger tip the authorities of Jammu & Kashmir continue to 'crawl' at a snail's pace and same got reflected today yet again. It took the staff deputed to count votes for the municipal elections more than eight hours to count few thousand votes polled in the Srinagar district. The inordinate delay in counting of votes meant that the consolidated figure with regards to final results of municipal polls in the state is released only after 10 hours. Like other parts of state the counting of votes at Sher-I-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) began at 9 AM. Giv...

Thin line divides separatists, mainstream in Kashmir
Both camps speak same language
10/20/2018 10:20:58 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: A line between the separatists and mainstream leaders in Kashmir is turning notoriously blur with each passing day, with the people in a fix. The statements nowadays being issued by the mainstream leaders surpass those issued by the separatists. The content is almost same and it is becoming difficult to even differentiate whether it's a mainstream or a separatist leader speaking. Sample this. On Saturday, PDP accused the central government of turning Kashmir into a theatre of war while strongly advocating that action against the militants should be stopped and rather reconciliation should be undertaken. On the counting day, when results of the ULB ...
