Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 8: Separatists in Kashmir after being rejected by people in an outright manner have admitted to the fact that they are now being ignored by the media and that their rants aren’t getting any space anywhere in newspapers. On Thursday, Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq issued a detailed statement in which it demanded release of political prisoners and maintained the age-old rhetoric. What raised many eyebrows was the part of the statement that reads as follows: “Most newspapers do not carry our statements to the public which is very unfortunate.” These remarks have proven beyond doubt that separatist have accepted defeat after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, last year. Last year even ahead of the 370 abrogation, when Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Valley, the separatists including Geelani for the first time since the eruption of militancy in 1990, issued no strike call on Home Minister’s visit. Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 8: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 84.38 percent today as 1,336 virus affected patients were discharged from the different hospitals and Corona Virus centres of the union territory. In the meantime, Jammu & Kashmir reported 696 fresh cases of COVID-19 with nine more virus related deaths taking place in the past 24 hours.
