Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 1: When everyone was busy fighting COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, land encroachers in Thannamandi sub division of district Rajouri, made fortune by grabbing huge chunk of the abandoned state in “connivance” with the Revenue officials. “Administration failed to stop the encroachments in ward no. 12 of the Municipal Committee at Thanamandi during the lockdown period. At least 10 kanals of land passing through the survey No. 580, 592 and 595 was encroached by some influential people with the help of Revenue officials. Some portion of this encroached land was a footpath for the past hundreds of years. It was used by the inhabitants of more than 10 villages as it was the only way which connects these villages with the main town”, locals informed Early Times, adding that the entire exercise was carried out by the encroachers during the COVID-19 lockdown. Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 1: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 540 fresh cases of Corona Virus today following which the total number of positive cases reached 95,325. With four fresh deaths the total number of casualties is 1,482 in the union territory. Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 1: A businessman of Kashmir has come under the scanner of the investigating agencies for alleged Rs 100 crore hawala transactions. Sources said the businessman has come under scanner after the Income Tax Department sleuths recently conducted raids against a Kashmir-based group engaged in various businesses. Ladakh records one more COVID-related death, 76 new cases

Early Times Report Leh, Nov 1: The Union Territory of Ladakh has reported one more COVID-19 related death and 76 new cases, taking the number of fatalities to 75 and the virus caseload to 6,270, according to an official bulletin. With 46 patients cured of the disease during the past 24 hours, the number of active cases in the region dropped to 656 -- 522 in Leh district and 134 in Kargil district, read the bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services this evening. A patient, who had recently tested positive for coronavirus, died in Leh, taking the death toll to 75 in the UT-- 37 in Leh and 38 in Kargil, the bulletin said.
