TOP STORY OF THE DAY
No visible support for BJP's Mission 44+ in Kashmir
Candidates fail to draw big crowds
11/20/2014 12:22:46 AM
Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report srinagar, Nov 19: Dismal past and repeated statements about abrogation of Article 370 has put BJP in a tight spot in Kashmir so much so that the mission 44 + may remain unachieved. The BJP candidates compared to regional political parties have so far failed to pull crowd in their rallies. Mission 44+ which is impossible without securing seats from Kashmir as well with Jammu and Ladakh regions of the state, BJP leaders which include National general secretary, Ram Madhav, MoS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and PS Gill who more often meet local leaders of the BJP in Kashmir, use all means and measures to fetch up some seats from Kashmir valley. However, the much debated issue of Article 370 which BJP sold during Lok Sabha elections in Jammu region is playing spoil sport for BJP candidates campaigning in Kashmir these days. Kashmir which plays a key role in Government formation in the state has forced BJP leadership to eye migrant votes of Kashmiri Pandits in Habbakadal, Amirakadal and Khanyar in Srinagar District and volatile Sopore and Tral. Howeve...

11/20/2014 12:22:12 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 19: The National Conference finds it difficult to sell the autonomy slogan to woo the voters across state especially in Kashmir valley. Autonomy was used as a rhetoric by NC for many years right from 1996 when this party won the Assembly elections with a thumping majority. The autonomy was an important slogan during those days and it was basically used to counter the azadi slogan of separatists. The NC leaders tried to emotionally blackmail the people of Valley with this slogan but when the time came to implement it , the party could not even discuss this matter with the Govt of India inspite of the fact that J&K Assembly had adopted a resolution vis a vis r...

Feeble Cong fails to conceal cracks
11/20/2014 12:21:42 AM
Cracks were visible distinctly within the Congress leadership even as the party is facing an uphill task to save its credibility and political legacy ahead of the crucial elections to the State Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir. Former Chief Minister and Ghulam Nabi Azad and JKPCC president Saif-ud-Din Soz did not only speak in different voices, their efforts to avoid each other were little too conspicuous. While Soz failed to make it to the press conference when Azad and Ambica Soni were addressing the scribes, Azad left the conference as soon as Soz entered the venue only to join at the tea that followed the event. Besides, Soz who spoke in the absence of Azad did not make a single mention ...
