early times report jammu, Feb 9: Notwithstanding the enactment of Migrant Properties Act way back in 1997 to check the distress sale of migrant properties in Kashmir the same goes unabated in Valley. According to sources in open violation of the Act the thousands kanals of migrants land has been sold in last over two decades with Government's failure to declare the same as null and void under law, though there is ample provision in the law in this regard. Sources said the law has totally failed to protect the migrants left over property in Kashmir and respective District Development Committees also failed to act as the custodians of this property in different parts of Valley. Sources said the DCs in Kashmir have failed to take action in such cases and the migrants property has been sold like hot cases in Kashmir.
