Chaos in Jammu city as Raj Bhawan admin fails to tackle 'war-like emergency' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 27: Amid a "war-like" situation in Jammu city, which is barely few miles away from the international border where hostilities from Pakistan are on a rise, the administrant miserably failed to tackle the chaos Wednesday.
While the schools were kept open here, a sudden declaration of the closure as announced by many of educational institutions only added to the chaos when the news had just broken that Pakistan warplanes had tried to attack adjoining Rajouri district.
Schoolchildren and their parents were left to fend for themselves by the administration which "didn't bother" to get things under control or send a word of clarification.
"I was on duty when I got a call that school of kids had suddenly shut I need to take them home… But as I was stuck at office I had to ask my friend to get them home," complained a senior official on the condition of anonymity.

Jammu hospitals put on high alert, leaves canceled | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 27: In view of the prevailing situation at the LoC and International Borders with Pakistan, all hospitals including district hospitals have been put on high alert and asked to stock up essential medicines and supplies immediately, besides deputing adequate staff for emergencies.
Officials told that Directorate of Health Services Jammu called a meeting after receiving directions from the state government and issued instructions to the Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and others staff to stock up essential drugs and supplies. Blood banks volunteers have been asked to be prepared to donate blood in case of emergency.

Jammu, Feb 27: The Jammu and Kashmir administration Wednesday constituted a five-member committee for the upgradation of the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), officials said.
"Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a committee regarding upgradation of the SEOC in Humhama, Kashmir," an order issued by General Administration Department (GAD) said.
The committee would be headed by administrative secretary, information technology department and it will take necessary steps to upgrade the SEOC with communication equipment as required to enable it to function as a nerve centre for disaster preparedness and response activities in the state, the order said.
