Governor rule blessing in disguise for Ganie
Khel Kismat Ka
2/6/2016 12:09:39 AM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 5: For former bureaucrat Khurshid Ganie, the Governor's rule seems to have come as a blessing in disguise as he has been elevated to the powerful chair of being Advisor to Governor NN Nohra. Ganie, who had been struggling for around a year to grab any major break has finally got a shot in the arm with powers of minister during the Governor's rule. Though after his retirement in October last year, he was "re-employed" as the chairman of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, his colleagues are comparing the new assignment with "windfall gains." They say the previous assignment as Chairman BPE was a "low profile backroom job." As of now, Ganie's overnight elevation has emerged as the biggest gossip in the Civil Secretariat in Jammu, which last year saw many high voltage dramas, including the sudden and unceremonious exit of the then Chief Secretary Muhammad Iqbal Khanday from the government services. Most of the officials in the Civil Secretariat termed Ganie's elevation to the prize posting as "Khel Kismat Ka." For Ganie, 2015 had been a year of deje...

Agenda of alliance a 'visionary' document, says BJP
Jammu in danger
2/6/2016 12:09:25 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: The BJP is, it seems, determined to kill and destroy Jammu and Ladakh and barter national interests in Jammu and Kashmir. How else should one interpret the nasty statement of the state BJP president, Sat Sharma, that the Agenda of Alliance "is a visionary document" and that "the coalition was formed on a common minimum programme with detailed deliberations over distribution of ministries". It appears that Sat Sharma has, like other local BJP leaders, not read the Agenda of Alliance. Had he read it and also understood it, he would not have said what he said to further rub salt on the wounds of the people of Jammu province, Ladakhi people and other nationali...

2/6/2016 12:08:27 AM
ET Report Jammu, Feb 5: Maturity and ripeness in a field like politics reflects from the conduct and demeanour of the person in situations of difficulty and dilemma. That is how PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's persona can be gauged, not with respect to formation of the government in the state, instead towards handling opposition and her counterpart Omar Abdullah, NC president. The latter has tired himself for the last one month in tweeting over every next day with loads of sarcasm against PDP and its chief, only to be completely ignored by the latter.
