Rejection of fresh passport application: Mehbooba again attacks judiciary
4/1/2021 12:29:24 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, March 31: ‘Annoyed’ over rejection of her plea by the J&K High Court on fresh passport issue controversy, former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday once again ‘attacked’ judiciary for, what she alleged, not ‘protecting’ her fundamental rights. The J&K High Court has rejected her plea to direct the government to expeditiously grant her a fresh passport. The High Court refused to intervene in the matter. The court in fact pointed out that passport cannot be granted as a matter of absolute right., Mehbooba’s passport was reportedly expired in May 2019 and she applied for a fresh passport on December 11, 2020. In February 2021, Mehbooba moved the High court when there was no decision on her application. Mehbooba’s mother’s application for renewal of passport was also rejected on the same grounds by the government. The J&K refused to intervene in her passport case too. “Under BJPs rule, Indian constitution is being undermined time & again. Only option & recourse left is the judiciary. Once they too decide to wash their hands off matters which ...
