Rise in militant attacks in Jammu puts security agencies on tenterhooks

Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 10: A surge in deadly militant attacks in Jammu region including the winter capital has put the security agencies on tenterhooks. Official sources said the security grid has been put on high alert whereas the security agencies particularly the Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified intelligence network apprehending that sleeper cells could be active. A detailed meeting to review security preparedness in the region is expected soon in the winter capital. The sources said the meeting is likely to be chaired by the Governor SP Malik himself. Sources said following intelligence inputs the police have already been directed to intensify night vigil especially on the highways connecting to the Jammu city. "Similar measures are being put in place in other regions of the district," said a senior police official on the condition of anonymity.
