File to declare holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh's birthday shelved at GAD

Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 21: More than a year has passed since the upper house of J&K legislature passed a resolution to declare state holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, but the government has shelved the file at the General Administrative Department. Sources within the dispensation said the helmsmen in the state are reluctant to pass a government order in this regard and that the issued has been sidelined deliberately. It was informed further that on the day when the Legislative Council passed the resolution, the secretary Assembly sent its details to Secretary General Administrative Department, as per set precedent. "The procedure in vogue is that wherever a resolution is passed in the LC, its details are forwarded to the GAD for further action. The resolution pertaining to declaring state holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh's birthday has also been sent to the GAD for further action thereof. I don't know what happened to it later on. Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report srinagar, Apr 21: Even as more than Rs 10 crore has been spent on dredging, cleaning and deweeding of the Dal lake in the last three years, there's no visible improvement in the condition of the dying lake. Giving details, sources told Early Times that an amount of Rs 4.06 cr was spent on cleaning, dredging and deweeding of the Dal during 2015-16 year; Rs 3.54 cr in 2016-17; and Rs 2.77 in 2017-18. Sources said the government of India has also released Rs 273.85 cr for conservation of Dal and Nigeen lakes.
