Family issue keeps 'PDP scion' away from polls

Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 24: A close family member of a top Peoples Democratic Party leader remained conspicuous for staying away from the polls in Anantnag on Tuesday. Sources said the family member who was also a minister in the previous government didn't even visit the constituency from where the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti is contesting the Parliament elections. Sources said a "family issue compelled" the said leader to stay away from the polls. Sources said the family is divided over the kind of treatment meted with them by the party leadership. "In the last two years, only some of the relatives were pampered by the PDP whereas the others have been sidelined and this discrimination has become a reason for discontent within the family," said a source in the family on the condition of anonymity.
