TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Govt to probe 'undue' liabilities of Rs 1,000 Cr created by PDP-BJP regime
5/17/2019 11:24:54 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, May 17: The state government is likely to order probe into the "undue" liabilities to the tune of a whopping over Rs 1,000 crore it owes to contractors for the development works done during the Peoples Democratic Party- Bharatiya Janta Party regime that lasted for three years. Highly placed sources said "undue liabilities" have been put on the government because the previous government spent more money on development works than what was allocated to them for the same. The sources said the "political pressures" may have forced the concerned officials to get works done for which there were no funds. "The works that were executed were done without any requisite allocation of funds and this is something very serious. Unless a probe is ordered and responsibility is fixed on as to who all are responsible for the financial mess, such a plunder of state exchequer will only set bad precedence," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. He said Raj Bhawan has been informed about the "financial mess" that was created during the previous regime and tha...

What an irony?
5/17/2019 11:22:54 PM

A week ago, actor-turned-politician in Tamil Nadu Kamal Haasan termed Nathuram Godse as the "first Hindu terrorist in the post-1947 India". The reason: Godse had shot dead MK Gandhi for his views on the Hindus and for his soft attitude for Pakistan. His remarks triggered a fierce controversy across the nation with Hindu organizations condemning Haasan and secular organizations endorsing Haasan. On Thursday, the BJP candidate from the prestigious Bhopal (MP) constituency Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur opined that "Godse was a true patriot and the people of India will teach a lesson on May 23 to those who calle...

Congress accepts defeat even before declaration of results
Facing extinction
5/17/2019 11:22:42 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, May 17: Gone ate the days when the Congress, which was set up by three Britons at Bombay in 1885, would play all shots and reign supreme. Things have changed and changed drastically. Situation has climaxed to the point that the AICC leadership comprising Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra are doing all that they could to save the Congress party. That the Congress had become a spent force became clear in 2014 itself, when its tally came down from 207 in 2009 to a paltry 44 and when it could not even get the status of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Things have not improved since then. In fact, things seem to have further worsened. How else could ...

There is no denying the fact that the Cell makes public number of complaints received, but due to lack of monitoring of received complaints, most of the complaints are gathering dust in offices of heads of various departments. "Complaint numbers 999001036557, 999001085466 were filed with the grievance cell in the month of January this, however, the Cell further forwarded the both complaints to Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), but lapse of four months no actions have taken on ground", they said and added in another case a complaint re...

5/17/2019 10:05:34 PM
