TOP STORY OF THE DAY
NC, PDP suffered most in terms of vote-share
Lok Sabha polls
5/25/2019 11:39:09 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, May 25: Top leaders of the NC in Kashmir valley may have been celebrating the victory of all three party candidates in Lok Sabha polls but a closer look at the voting share accumulated by the party candidates clearly reveal a different picture. Between 2014 and 2019, the total vote share of the party has gone down from 19.11 per cent to merely 7.88 per cent. It is ironical that despite getting 19.11 per cent votes in 2014, the NC had failed to win even a single seat, but this time it won all the three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir valley - Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag. In case of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti has to deal with much more precarious situation ahead of the Assembly polls in the state. Her party's' vote share witnessed a sharp decline of 18 per cent. In 2014, the PDP had got a total vote share of 20.5 per cent while on May 23, the PDP failed to open its account in Kashmir valley. Its vote share dropped to 2.39 per cent. In 2009, PDP had secured a vote share of 22.36 per cent. In contrast, the vote share of both the national...

5/25/2019 11:38:53 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, May 25: PDP chief and former BJP-made CM Mehbooba Mufti has finally spoken and explained why she and her party suffered a massive defeat in the just-held general elections. Mehbooba Mufti lost election from Anantnag constituency, got a paltry 30,000 votes from a constituency of almost 14 lakh voters and came third. The NC won the seat and the Congress was the runners up. The NC candidate could get only a little over 40,000 votes and won. Reflecting on the causes of her defeat and defeat of the PDP, Mehbooba Mufti said that it was the PDP's alliance with the BJP, which didn't go well with the people of Kashmir and that became the fundamental factor for the defeat ...

PDP gets 3 out of 46 Assembly seats in Kashmir
The complete whitewash!
5/25/2019 11:38:40 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, May 25: One wonders what could have been PDP's fate if assembly and parliament polls would have been held together, the party could have won just three assembly seats out of Kashmir's 46 assembly segments. There were only three assembly seats that too all situated in South Kashmir namely Bijbehara, Pulwama and Rajpora where PDP had a lead of few hundred votes. Surprisingly, PDP led by 16 votes in Bijbehara assembly constituency. In Pulwama assembly constituency, PDP led by 120 votes while in Rajpora assembly it led by 394 votes.
