Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 31: At a time when the Governor Satya Pal Malik led state administration is claiming to have evicted encroachers from state land a prized plot of this type of land has been encroached by land mafia near the Srinagar airport. Early Times has learnt from sources that around two and half kanals of land have been encroached by the land mafia at Gogoland near Humhama. The area falls within the vicinity of Srinagar International Airport and has great market value. "The land mafia encroached upon this prized plot of land more than a month back. The plot of land comes under survey number 1076/2 and was being eyed by some of the influential people of the area. The land was being used as grazing of the cattle by the people living in the vicinity," said sources. Sources said that initially an impression was given that the land has been encroached by a youth leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but the same was found to be false.
