6/17/2019 12:01:48 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 16: Since the day Lok Sabha elections have ended, Kashmir centric politicians have disappeared from the scene. These leaders during their campaign for parliamentary elections were vocal about various issues. "It seems Prime Minister Narendra Modi returning to power has left them shell shocked and they don't know how to react," said an analyst. He said, "If one goes by the performance of Kashmir centric parties in the recently held Lok Sabha polls it's easy to predict that none of the parties have made much impact and the verdict of the people has been split. Another factor which is worrying the Kashmir based parties is that if people keep on staying away from elections then the mainstream political parties in the Valley would have no say." A Kashmir watcher said that for time being Kashmiri politicians have taken a break and the speculations about the Government of India mulling to defreeze the delimitation have added to their worries. "During the past seventy years Kashmiri politicians were made to believe by the regimes in New Delhi that J&K i...

The present delimitation of constituencies in Jammu & Kashmir has been done on the basis of 1981 Census. The 2002 Delimitation law requires a Commission to be constituted for readjusting the representation of the territorial constituencies of the House of the People and the Legislat...
