TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Wanted in Guv Rule: SAC rebirth, sincere action against corrupt netas
6/23/2018 11:21:33 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: A million dollar question asked by many people in J&K is this: Will Governor NN Vohra resurrect the dead State Accountability Commission (SAC) and take action against the corrupt politicians. The SAC has been rendered a toothless tiger, and for years the commission hasn't been accorded enough powers to rein in corrupt politicians who have made fortune out of the peoples' hard earned money. The SAC was constituted under Jammu and Kashmir Accountability Commission Act, 2002, to inquire into the grievances and allegations against public functionaries and for matters connected therewith. Section 3 of the Act provides that the Accountability Commission shall consist of:- (a) a Chairperson who has been a Judge of the Supreme Court or a Judge of any High Court]; and (b) such other Members, if any, as may be prescribed In terms of Rule 4 framed under section 30 of the J&K Accountability Commission Act. However, the non- serious approach of the successive regimes in the state have left this vital anti-graft body toothless, with limited powers...

List of BJP betrayals is very long -- II
6/23/2018 11:21:26 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, June 23: Vande Mataram Cognizable Offence: The story of BJP's betrayals took an ugly turn when the Poonch administration issued an order declaring chanting of Vande Mataram a cognizable offence. It issued this obnoxious order when the Buddha Amarnath Yatra was in full swing. The yatris were enthusiastic and they chanted "Bharat Mein Yadi Rehna Hoga, Vande Mataram Kehna Hoga". They did raise this slogan in Pakistan; they raised this slogan in J&K, an integral part of India. But the slogan didn't go down well with the PDP-BJP Government and the result was the order that declared the slogan a cognizable offence. Many were booked. People protested against the Mufti Go...

Hoping to be retained, PDP leader waited for 4 days before quitting
6/23/2018 11:21:12 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Even as the PDP leaders who were enjoying political posts tried to submit their resignations at an earliest before the presidential rule in the state would ask them to unceremoniously leave the chair, one of the youth leaders of the ousted party, waited for four days before tendering his resignation. Sources said the leader was firmly believing that the Governor would him continue at a pivotal post in the sports council. Sources said the leader was thinking that his appointment should not be treated as political one but in the interest of the state. "The post he was holding is usually not considered a political appointment and thus he remained in an imp...

Arun Jasrotia Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Even after five days of Governor rule, various departmental websites forget to remove former minister's pictures from the Websites. Its need to be mentioned here that on 20th of June 2018 Jammu and Kashmir State was put Under Governor's Rule Eighth Time in State history after People Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti resigned as the chief minister yesterday. Earlier, the BJP pulled out of the Mehbooba government citing worseni...

Instead of tendering apology from people, Amit Shah rakes up discrimination issues to befool people
Discrimination with Jammu, Ladakh
6/23/2018 11:19:41 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: BJP national president Amit Shah's speech at Parade rally was on the expected lines because instead of tendering apology to the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions for treated badly during the tenure of PDP-BJP regime, Shah again tried to play with the sentiments of people of these two regions. People in Jammu region were expecting that Amit Shah would apologise on behalf of J&K BJP for giving second class treatment to the people of Jammu region during three and half year power in J&K with PDP but Shah raked up discrimination issue and avoided to highlight failure of their own party leaders who had shamelessly sacrificed Jammu's aspirations and wishes fo...

Sahai likely to assume command of State Police
6/23/2018 11:19:24 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: With reports of Home Ministry's nod to the repatriation of Shiv Murari Sahai back to the state as the Director General of Police, it would be an appropriate time that the officer shall be deputed to undertake a damage control exercise in Kashmir. Sahai's return is being seen as a poetic justice of sorts after he became victim of the political conspiracy hatched by certain Ministers of Mehbooba Cabinet who did not want him to be elevated as the DG of the state police. It has been reliably learnt that in the situation arising following collapse of the PDP-BJP coalition government and the imposition of Governor's rule, Center is looking forward to an all n...

Week on, Police fail to identify terror group that killed Shujaat
Minutes before his assassination he had called his friend in Delhi, informed him about life threat to him
6/23/2018 11:19:15 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Even one week after the Editor of Rising Kashmir Shujaat Bukhari and his two body guards were killed in a broad day light at Press Enclave in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Police are still groping in dark and have fell short of even identifying the terror group which carried out the brutal killings in heart of the city. Sources told Early Times the accused who had stolen the pistol and decamped with the mobile phones of the victims has spilt some beans but the three assailants are still at large. The Director General of Police S P Vaid on Friday said that "when the breakthrough would be achieved media would be informed." A source said that preliminary ...

Has BJP decided to sideline anti-Jammu Ram Madhav from J&K affairs?
Conspicuous absence of national general secretary during Amit Shah's rally many eye-brows
6/23/2018 11:19:05 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Conspicuous absence of BJP's pro-PDP leader Ram Madhav during Amit Shah's rally has fuelled the rumours that BJP has ultimately decided to sideline its "self-styled over-intelligent" national general secretary who is responsible for prevailing mess in J&K in general and Jammu region in particular. Ram Madhav, who had projected himself as intelligent architect of PDP-BJP alliance in J&K, had virtually surrendered party's national agenda just to appease PDP and separatists. Credible sources said that despite deteriorating situation in the Kashmir Valley and growing anger against BJP in Jammu and Ladakh regions, Ram Madhav had opposed dumping PDP. "Instea...

6/23/2018 11:08:57 PM
Mohammad Tahir Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 23: Tightening the noose over absenteeism, the higher authorities have ordered for biometric attendance of all officials so that transparency and accountability could be made possible in all government offices. Sources said that, there are clear cut directions from the higher authorities at civil secretariat that all employees should be dealt with iron hands if they were found absent on all working days. However sources told Early Times that there are reports that many negligent officers have become habitual of remaining absent from offices during working hours and if the reports were found true, they would be dealt with iron fists. Absence of fast track courts leaves rape victims in lurch
6/23/2018 11:01:48 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Catchphrase 'one step forward, two steps back' seems most suitable to explain ill-planning of previous coalition regimes in J&K, as both PDP-BJP government and its predecessor NC-Congress regime, failed to constitute fast track courts to deliver timely justices to rape victims. Both the coalition governments had announced during their respective tenure that the fast track courts would be constituted to deliver justice to rape victims. But the announcement ...

Sources in the Raj Bahwan told Early Times that acting tough against corruption in the departments and inordinate delay in according sanction for prosecution of corrupt officers, Vohra has issued a series of directions to secretaries and the General Administration Department (GAD). Madhav blissfully ignorant
President can abolish Article 370 in one minute
6/23/2018 10:59:20 PM
JAMMU, June 23: Ram Madhav is BJP national general secretary and in-charge of sensitive Jammu & Kashmir. He was also the one who, it is said, was architect of the "atrocious' PDP-BJP agenda of alliance, described by nationalist forces as an "agenda of subversion" and "one more rivet in the chain of slavery of Jammu and Ladakh". Besides, he is the BJP's point-man for Jammu & Kashmir. Strange may it appear, but it is a fact that Ram Madhav knows nothing about Article 370 that grants separate status to Jammu & Kashmir on the score of religion. He also doesn't know how this Article could be repealed. Yesterday, he made himself an object of ridicule when he said that only Parliament could repea...

6/23/2018 10:50:40 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: The non Sher e Kashmir University for Agriculture and Sciences Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has held only 5 meetings of the Research Council in 5 years against 20 mandatory sittings thus hampering research activities. According to the University Act, the Research Council was to oversee research programmes relating to agriculture, animal husbandry and allied sciences carried out in the University and was to meet at least once in every quarter. "But against 20 mandatory meetings, the Research Council held only five meetings during 2011 to 2015. This affected the level of supervision and guidance of the research activities," they said. They further said that U...
