9 employees sacked on corruption charges

Early Times Report Srinagar, June 24: The Lt Governor led administration has ordered premature retirement of nine employees of the Housing and Urban Development Department under Article 226(2) of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil services Regulations on charges of ‘corruption’. The charges against the officers were confirmed by the Departmental Committees and upheld by the designated review committee under Article 226(2), include misappropriation of funds, falsification of records and raising fake bills, allowing illegal constructions, committing financial irregularities and making Illegal appointments during their tenure in various ULBS. Most of the officials have faced probes by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and were also suspended. Article 226(2) of the J&K Civil Services Regulations, 1956 allows the Government employees to be retired in “public Interest” upon completing 22 years of qualifying service or attaining 48 years of age. Early Times Report Jammu, June 24: The Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed for the fourth consecutive day on Friday even as agencies stepped up efforts to restore traffic by blasting boulders blocking roads, officials said. The highway was blocked due to landslides, mudslides and shooting stones at 33 places in Ramban and Udhampur districts apart from washing of a 150-feet long road stretch and an under-construction bridge due to flash-floods triggered by heavy rains. Early Times Report Jammu, June 24: The restoration work on landslide and shooting stones hit 280-km long Jammu-Srinagar national highway is being carried out on a war footing as Shri Amarnath Yatra is starting from June 30. The first batch of Shri Amarnath Yatra will leave from Jammu on June 29 from Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar.
