TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Action likely against Sharma, Khajuria and Khan
Opposition to Article 370
6/27/2015 12:36:42 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, June 26: State BJP president and Lok Sabha MP jugal Kishore Sharma, MLC Ashok Khajuria and newly-appointed national secretary Farooq Khan could be in trouble for what they said during the Balidan Diwas on June 23 while remembering Shyama Prasad Mookerjee at Pt Prem Nath Dogra Bhawan, Jammu, and his contribution to the national cause in Jammu & Kashmir. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, founder of Jan Sangh, had entered the state in after violating the pernicious permit system and laid down his life in Srinagar on June 23, 1953. He was a bitter critic of Article 370, as also a bitter critic of the demand in Kashmir for greater autonomy. His view was that if the Kashmiri leadership insisted on Article 370 and greater autonomy, Jammu region and Ladakh must get the status of statehood as the people of these two regions were nationalist to the core and vehemently opposed to the demand in Kashmir for greater autonomy. The BJP observes June 23rd every year as Balidan Diwas. Sources in the BJP reveal that what Sharma, Khajuria and Khan said that day had "not gone down we...

The martyr forgotten; courtesy: BJP
He was "head" when cops were "rewarded" for disgracing Verma's body; he is at the helm now when cops have killed 2 civilians. Will justice be done?
6/27/2015 12:36:30 AM
Bharat Bhushan Early Times Report JAMMU, June 26: Right man at the helm of affairs makes a lot of difference. The man, who was in command of Jammu police apparatus when cops were rewarded with plum postings for disgracing Kuldeep Verma's body during the 2008 Amarnath Land Row, is coincidentally at the helm in June 2015 also when six cops have been booked for killing two civilians in two unavoidable firing incidents. The question haunting Jammuites nowadays is if the guilty would be punished and probes taken to their logical end. When I think about the 2008 land row, one incident of police "goondaraj" comes tumbling back into my consciousness. On the night of July 23, 2008, Kuldeep Verma'...

Flood situation in Kashmir is not separatists' cup of tea!
6/27/2015 12:35:57 AM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 26: Even as fresh floods washed away houses, paddy fields and orchards in south Kashmir, not a word of sympathy has been expressed by the separatist leadership, exposing their claims of being "real representatives" of people of Kashmir. While the mainstream parties and others have been up in arms over the alleged non-seriousness of the government towards the crisis, the separatists have been silent. In the past two days Hurriyat Conference-M led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been throwing light on social issues like drug abuse. But a handout issued by the Hurriyat didn't have a word of consolation for the flood-affected people. Hurriyat-G chairman Syed Ali...
