Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, July 17: The senior IAS officer who has been in the news for returning around Rs 40 lakhs, which he had allegedly acquired illegally from a semi-government organisation, is likely to be shifted outside the J&K UT. Sources told Early Times that Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu has taken a strong note of the case and has made it clear that any breach of proprietary laws by the bureaucrats won’t be tolerated. They said that apart from the recovery initiated against him and a probe by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the officer is likely to be shifted before August 15, 2020. “The Raj Bhawan came to know about the huge wealth amassed by the officer through touts”, sources said, adding that he has partnership with the local businessmen in his real-estate business. “The bureaucrat has been investing ill-gotten money in various projects in Jammu city and other businesses. The death toll due to COVID-19 reached 244 as eight more people died in the past 24 hours. Reports said that two deaths each were reported from Srinagar and Baramulla districts with Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam and Rajouri districts reporting one death each.
