TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Separatism, anti-India campaigns things of past in Kashmir
Geelani, Mirwaiz prefer stoic silence
7/9/2020 11:21:23 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, July 8: Separatists not issuing any strike call on July 8 in Kashmir is a clear indication that the separatism and anti- India campaigns are now a thing of past in the Valley. July 8 since 2016 used to be marked as a strike day in Kashmir as Hizbul militant Burhan Wani was killed by the security forces on this day in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Kokernag area. This year however, for the first time, no strike call was issued by any separatists, including Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Even the strike call purportedly issued by Hurriyat hawk Geelani for July 8 and 13 was termed baseless and farce by the police, declaring that Geelani’s family sources have confirmed that no such call has been given by the aged separatist. A case in this regard has also been registered. Interestingly, Geelani too didn’t react to Police’s statement, thus vindicating the claims of the security agencies. Hurriyat dove, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also maintained silence on the matter. He also didn’t issue any strike call on the occasion. After 2016, Geelani, Mirwai...
