Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 19: With the State Government eased restrictions in the summer capital and other districts of Kashmir province in a phased manner, the markets in uptown areas here have resumed business. Much against the general perception that the people of Kashmir are not happy with the decision of revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the traders in uptown areas like Jawahar Nagar, Sanat Nagar have resumed normal work. From grocery to hardware stores to ice cream parlours, almost all sale outlets are doing brisk business in these areas. "Our business grew more than 400 times than the routine days," said a trader on the condition of anonymity. He said the people of Kashmir have learnt from past mistakes that hartal politics doesn't work in the interest of people. "Not the common man but the politicians make fortune out of hartal and thus we are not with strikes. Agencies Mumbai, Aug 19: A special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances court in Mumbai on Monday convicted former Jammu and Kashmir cadre IPS officer Saji Mohan and his bodyguard in a 2009 drug peddling case. The court, meanwhile, acquitted one person who was accused in the same case. The special NDPS court in Mumbai sentenced Saji Mohan to 15 years rigorous imprisonment while his bodyguard was sentenced to 10-year rigorous imprisonment. Saji Mohan was arrested by the ATS in the year 2009 with 44 kilograms of drugs, including 12 kilograms of heroin.
