Amit Shah likely to achieve Mission 44 + for BJP | Cong, PDP, NC keep fingers crossed | Bashir Assad | 8/22/2014 11:01:48 AM |
|
SRINAGAR, Aug 21: BJP president Amit Shah's Mission Kashmir has started haunting Kashmiri politicians and political leaders across the board. It is feared that in Assembly Elections 2014, BJP will disrupt the power paradigm in the state.
The worry of the state's political elite is that the BJP game-planner Amit Shah can be a game-changer where the current political scenario in Jammu and Kashmir is concerned.
The plan, say BJP insiders, is to wipe out the disarrayed Congress in Jammu region on one side, and on the other hand, secure a foothold in the Muslim-dominated Kashmir valley. This will be particularly seen in the pockets where the Kashmiri Pandits have a presence. These segments i...

|
Jammu, Aug 21: Gung-ho over achieving "Mission 44 plus" in the forthcoming Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is using all the tricks up its sleeve to accomplish the target; however, the BJP seems to be off-track as far as giving due representation to women leaders or activists of party in its endeavour to reach the desired goal.
So far the BJP's scheme of things suggest that fairer sex, whose numbers is almost fifty percent of the total population in the country, is not getting the attention it deserve from the party leadership in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
If sources are to be believed than even the women leaders as well as grass root level activists of BJP o...

| | 20 year old GCET Jammu facing Govt neglect, Adhoc faculty running engineering courses | Kashmir oriented selfish custodians of Jammu silent? | Syed Junaid Hashmi | 8/22/2014 10:56:27 AM |
|
Jammu, Aug 21: Relocated under duress for purely political reasons and without seemingly proper application of mind to a remote corner of Jammu city, shortage of faculty coupled inadequate science laboratories have crippled functioning of prestigious Government College for Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu.
Higher education department headed by ex-speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone is running the department on Adhoc basis, little realising the fact that engineering colleges require subject specialists, world class infrastructure alongwith all kinds of modern machines and equipments. 29 permanents Assistant and Associate Professors are running the five departments of the engineering coll...

| EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Aug 21: Minister for Technical Education, Vikar Rasool Wani has virtually wrecked havoc with the Department of Technical Education since he is himself acting as Director by ordering transfer of his blue-eyed officials to the prime positions and attaching honest officials of the department.

The 'interference' from the Minister has virtually landed the department in the shambles with its functioning taking a serious hit.

| | Reject NC, Hurriyat, says PDP | Kashmir's Political scene | Rustam | 8/22/2014 10:48:01 AM |
|
Jammu, Aug 21: The battle lines in Kashmir are drawn. The upbeat PDP has left none in any doubt that its main political rival in Kashmir is what it calls "unpopular and anti-people" NC and that its single-point agenda is to inflict such a crushing defeat on it that it becomes totally marginalized. Interestingly, it has some corner for the Congress, the coalition partner of the NC. Reasons are not difficult to understand. After all, the Congress has a number of times said that it would not mind forming Government with the PDP after the Assembly elections if the situation so warrants.
That the PDP has some soft corner for the Congress became clear on August 19, when senior party leader a...
| | 'Hindu Chief Minister from Jammu' | Appreciating democracy | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 21: The August 20 radical suggestion of Congress leader and PHE Minister Sham Lal Sharma's that the next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) should be a 'Hindu from Jammu province' has, as expected, not gone down well with Kashmiri leaders, both separatist and "mainstream". It is not in good taste. J&K is integral part of India and ours is a democratic polity, where anybody - Hindu or Muslim or Sikh or Christian, man or woman - could become Prime Minister or Chief Minister or could hold any other constitutional position. There is no bar. The Constitution of India and even the Constitution of J&K nowhere says that a particular person belonging to this or ...

jammu, Aug 21: In a significant departure from the former Prime Minister AB Vajpayee's policy on the Kashmir issue, the Centre is unlikely to hold talks with the Kashmir based separatists in the near future.
According to sources the Modi Government has decided to take the line that since separatists are just fringe elements and don't even have the representative character there is no ground to hold talks with them.

| | Corrigendum | | |
With the reference to the news item published in this news paper in August 20 edition under caption "Soz, Beg on Shias, BJP, Cong NC have lost the way", it is wrongly mentioned that spokesman of the Congress Salman Soz has termed the Shiite Muslims as non-Muslims or a "minority community". Salman Soz has clarified that he has not mentioned anything about Shiite Muslims in the debate which was conducted on a national news channel. Salman Soz has not termed Shiitee Muslims non Muslims. It was wrongly mentioned in the names item that Soz has termed Shiitte as non Muslim. The error is regretted.
