JAMMU, Aug 25: The recent stricture passed by the Anti Corruption Court should be an eye opener for the premium investigating agency of the state which is fast eroding its credibility in the second most corrupt state of the country. While rejecting a closure report filed by the State Vigilance Organization in a Disproportionate Assets case against one JE of PWD, Additional Sessions Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Sanjay Parihar said, "I am pained in observing that the investigation has been closed as not admitted at the behest of Central Office of Vigilance Organization, a premier agency having exclusive control of Vigilance Organization ... even supervisory officers have been found lacking in discharge of their duties of the fair investigation which they owe not only to themselves but also to the public at large".
It was not for the first time that the courts have rejected the closure report. Not very far, in February this year, Special Judge Anti-corruption Jammu Puneet Gupta had directed SVO for further investigation in an FIR registered against a senior IAS officer in...

Omar's father faced a similar situation in 1984. His brother-in-law `seduced' scores of legislators and toppled Dr Farooq Abdullah Government. Farooq lost the legal battle as well as the High Court did not agree with him and saw no problem in Ghulam Mohammad Shah's Government.

| | Paradigm shift in Kashmir policy | End of Nehruvian era | | Neha
JAMMU, Aug 25 : J&K, like 560-odd other princely states, acceded to India in 1947 as per the constitutional law on the subject, but, sadly, many of our Prime Ministers treated this solitary state differently just because the Muslim population was about 20 per cent more as compared with the non-Muslims. In fact, they took a stand that created serious doubts in the minds of the international community about the political status of J&K vis-à-vis India and in a way strengthened communal and separatist forces in Kashmir, who considered the Indian presence in Kashmir, unwarranted, illegal and against their will.
For example, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1948 promised a plebiscite t...
