Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 8: What could possibly dash the expectations of few Kashmir centric political parties was the recent interaction of Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam with the media persons. As Omar Abdullah and his ilk were demanding restoration of statehood, threatening that they wouldn’t be contesting polls if the statehood isn’t given back to Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Secretary has subtly hinted that the erstwhile state would continue to remain a Union Territory for now. “Three stages of transition have been going on in J&K. They are transition from Jammu and Kashmir Constitution to Indian Constitution, bifurcation of the state and then transition from state to UT. There have been lots of changes. Separation of three lakh employees was done in just 15 days. The UT rules were made. We had to prepare budget for five months from October 30 to March 31. EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 8: Over 170 teachers in the School Education Department have got inter-district transfers, maximum of which in District Jammu alone, in total violation of the norms governing transfers. An order issued by Administrative Secretary of Education department in year 2019, clarifying the ambiguities about inter-district transfers has so far not been implemented yet due to reasons best known to the authorities. Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 8: The COVID-19 death toll in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 459 as 10 more people died due to virus in the past 24 hours. In the meantime, 463 fresh cases of virus were reported today as a result of this; the number of positive cases reached 24,390. Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, Anantnag and Kupwara districts reported two Corona Virus deaths in the past 24 hours.
