Mehbooba getting ready for 'bigger role'
9/1/2015 12:03:51 AM
Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 31: The PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday put the speculations to rest that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is not well and he is planning to pass the baton to her. Talking to the reporters at a sidelines of a function at Baramulla in north Kashmir, Mehbooba said, "All is well with the grace of Allah and Mufti sahab will be returning home from Delhi tomorrow." Mehbooba said that the Chief Minister had gone from Delhi to Mumbai to Bangalore to meet his son. "Today he came back to Delhi and will return to Valley tomorrow," she said, adding that her father was all well. "If people will speculate, what can I do," she said. However, sources told Early Times that Chief Minister has dropped enough hints about his plans to handover the baton of the state and the party to his daughter Mehbooba Mufti and there is every possibility of him bringing back his close aide Muzaffar Hussain Beigh into the state politics. "Beigh is likely to be given the portfolio of the Finance Minister," sources added. They claimed Mufti not keeping well is an "o...

Dearth of lecturers in Jammu peripheral colleges exposes 'rationalization policy'
9/1/2015 12:00:01 AM
GS Asgotra Early Times Report jammu, Aug 31: After assuming office in March this year, the Minister for Higher Education, Naeem Akhtar, had announced that Government was committed to implement 'rationalization policy' regarding posting and transfer of lecturers. Six months later, it appears the announcement was a hoax, as the government has failed to provide even lecturers to peripheral colleges in Jammu, where students have been protesting for many days. Students of different colleges including GDC Billawar, Reasi, Kathua, Basohli and others have been staging protest demonstrations, demanding filling up of the vacant posts. Ironically, two months are left for the current academic sess...

Akshay Azad Early Times Report jammu, Aug 31: A major recruitment scandal has surfaced in Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, wherein nearly 50 casual labourers have been engaged in the last five years during tenure of National Conference-Congress Government. Mantris, Babus skip Civil Secretariat
Itna Sannata Kyun Hai Bhai?
8/31/2015 11:59:25 PM
Abdul Majid Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 31: The Civil Secretariat wears a deserted look for the past few days. The attendance was thin even on Monday when it opened after two day weekend break. Reasons for this unusual development are manifold. One, last week the Chief Secretary Muhammad Iqbal Khanday dropped a bombshell by formally announcing that he would quit services following his "differences" with the Government. Two, Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, is out of station for an official tour. So, many taking advantage of the "absence of the boss" skipped their offices. Three, rumor mills are rife over change of guard as some faces are likely to face axe on the portfolio th...

Noorani invokes Dogra to question Mufti's association with BJP
State Flag
8/31/2015 11:59:05 PM
Early Times Report jammu, Aug 31: AG Noorani, who championed the Chinese cause for years and has been advocating a solution to the so-called Kashmir problem that is acceptable to Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists, has been opposing the alliance between the PDP and the BJP, saying it has only helped the BJP to create a space for itself in the Valley (which is not a fact) and weakened the Kashmiri cause. What has provoked pro-Pakistan and pro-separatist Mumbai-based Noorani to attack Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed was the absence of the BJP ministers from the official function organized on July 13 in the memory of 21 traitors, called martyrs in Kashmir. A BJP MLA had described July 13 as Bla...

Early Times Report jammu, Aug 31: The National Conference, Which suffered a massive defeat in the Assembly elections last year even in the Valley, its core constituency, is unlikely to change its stand on Jammu & Kashmir, which is integral part of India. It had fought the election on the autonomy plank, but could win only 18 seats, including 14 from Kashmir, 4 from Jammu and nil from Ladakh - its lowest ever tally in any election. In 1996, it had won 57 seats and in 2002 and 2008, 28 seats each. In other words, the majority of population in Jammu & Kashmir rejected the NC's autonomy demand. That the NC could win only 4 seats outside Kashmir was a vindication of the nationalist politics tha...
