Under Kathua DC's nose, gun licences renewed in minutes

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 1: Though thousands of fake gun licenses issued by the state authorities has become a major issue after the weapons were found used by criminals, there seems no let up in this business. Under the nose of Deputy Commissioner Kathua, the renewal of these gun-licenses has been going on unabated in return of hefty sum of amount that too without maintaining any official record. Even the gun licenses issued by the other district officials are also reportedly been renewed by officials at DC office Kathua. Sources informed Early Times that some touts, especially one from Shiva Nagar area of district Kathua, has been working overnight in the renewal of fake-gun licenses from the DC office. On one hand those having legal gun-licenses have to wait for months together to get their licenses renewed if they didn't grease the palms of officials, even after paying the fee but on the other hand, those having fake licenses got the same renewed within couple of minutes, by paying hefty amount to the touts. Early Times Report Reasi, Sept 1: A former Assistant Regional Transport Officer Reasi has allegedly issued over a dozen route permits to the vehicles in connivance with agents, which were strictly prohibited in contravention of the order issued by the Transport Commissioner.
