| Govt to recover Rs 43-cr from 1.5 lakh serving, retired employees | | Excess amount was paid during 2018 ULBs, Panchayat elections | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the recovery of excess amount paid to employees as part of additional salary for discharging elections duties during municipal and Panchayat polls held in the Union Territory in the year 2018.
Although the government had announced one-month additional salaries for government employees deployed for elections duties, concerning drawing and disbursing officers (DDOs) had sanctioned other allowances also in favour of those employees which was a violation of rules.
In all, Rs 43.29 crores have been paid to employees along with additional salary due to mistakes by DDOs who construed salary to be inclusive of local allowances, HRA, deputation allowance, and traveling allowance.
As per data, during the 2018 municipal and Panchayat elections, over 1.5 lakh employees were deployed for poll duties across Jammu and Kashmir. Srinagar, Sept 24: Traffic was suspended on the national highway, the only road connecting the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir valley, on Friday for weekly maintenance.
No vehicle was allowed from either side on the highway at Zojila pass, for weekly maintenance and repair work a traffic police official told UNI this morning.

SRINAGAR, Sept 24: The Government on Friday informed that 148 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 28 from Jammu division and 120 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 328738. Also, 01 COVID death has been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 159 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 29 from Jammu Division and 130 from Kashmir Division.

New Delhi, Sept 24: More than 81.39 crore Covid vaccine doses have been provided to states and Union Territories so far, while 85,92,550 doses are in the pipeline, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.
