Postings on performance! Sinha’s mantra for administrative reshuffle

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 29: In a bid to gear up administrative efficiency in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has decided to allot postings to officials as per their performance and that a major reshuffle was on the cards in the Union Territory. Sources said in the last over a month since Sinha took over, official machinery had come up with lists for transfers but that he put such process on hold. Sources said Sinha has told both civil and police administration that posting should be done “purely on the basis of performance” and that “a special mechanism to evaluate efficiency of officials has been evolved.” It was reliably learnt that Sinha and his office are personally monitoring performance of all the IAS, IPS, KAS and KPS officials in Jammu and Kashmir and their previous track record was also being checked to decide about the next postings. Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 29: More than 37000 unfit vehicles are plying on the roads of Jammu and Kashmir, posing grave risk to lives of people and enhancing pollution levels in the Union Territory. Official documents reveal that fitness certificate of 1,04,635 vehicles were due two years ago in J&K and that out of these 104635 vehicles. 67,538 vehicles (65 per cent) renewed fitness certificate and the remaining 37,097 (35 per cent) registered vehicles, did not renew fitness certificates.
