Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 6: The second phase of the much-touted ‘mega public outreach’ programme of the Union Ministers is going to start next week of this month. The nine-week public outreach programme-II in Jammu and Kashmir is going to next week and eight ministers will visit the Union Territory every week. But people of the Jammu region are asking about the results of the first phase of this programe during which 36 Union Ministers had visited 60 locations, 52 in Jammu and eight in Kashmir. Hundreds of promises were made with the people of the Jammu region but these promises remained only on papers. With much publicity, the first phase of this programme was held from 18 to 24 January 2020. During the period Union Ministers were found in every nook and corner of Jammu province. While reaching the public, ministers made a number of promises to change the socio-economic conditions of the people of the Jammu region, who according to the ruling BJP, were facing step-motherly treatment due to Kashmir-centric politics. Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 6: Although the Finance Department of the Union Territory on Monday directed all government departments to clear all outstanding dues against electricity bills immediately, authorities have yet to take action against the biggest defaults. The power situation in J&K is worsening with every passing day because the situation on the ground is entirely different which being present during meetings. Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 6: Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered the reopening of schools for students of class 10th and 12th with 50% attendance on a given day. But the helmsmen are adamant on not allowing more than 25 people in banquet halls across Jammu region. “The banquet halls in Jammu are spread over 40 kanals of land and social distancing can easily be maintained even with 50% capacity but the officers running the system seem in no mood to allow the revival of business activities in Jammu region,” said a businessman.
