Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 8: In the war of political nerves that has turned into open battle field between Congress and Panthers Party, confronting each other on personal front with accusations of possessing disproportionate assets, the verbal duel which leaders of both the parties were engaged in for a couple of days took a fresh turn today with Youth Congress unit of Ramnagar in a written communication to Vigilance Commissioner demanding registration of a case and probe into movable and immovable property owned by MLA Harsh Dev Singh. Congress has also demanded registering a criminal case against Harsh Dev for allegedly undervaluing 7 kanals of land at Channi Chowadi as worth Rs. 8 lakhs and paying lesser court fees thereby evading compulsory stamp duties/court fees.
In a written communication to Vigilance Commissioner, Ramnagar Youth Congress while demanding registration of disproportionate assets case against Harsh Dev has sought probe into details of property possessed by him by putting a question mark as to how he allegedly accumulated property worth crores when his known source of income is only salary and allowances admissible as MLA. Giving details of the property shown by Harsh Dev in 2008 Assembly elections , the Congress body has alleged that apart from these details, there are other nami/benami properties possessed by him which have not been accounted for by him in his election-affidavit. It has also alleged that MLA Ramnagar has been riding a Black Scorpio and one of his family member has been brandishing a brand new 'BMW' car on the roads of Jammu which has not been accounted for by him in his affidavit or his returns before Assembly Secretariat.
Stating further that the property so-accounted-for by MLA in his election-affidavit is nowhere in his yearly returns before the Assembly Secretariat and the statement of property accounted for by him in his IT returns is totally different, the local Congress leadership has alleged that he has also not accounted for another 4 kanals of land in the name of Anil Singh, 24 kanals of land purchased by him near Heritage School at Sainik Colony Jammu. The Congress body has further stated that such a huge property has been raised by him for which he has not availed of any loan, finance from any Bank/Financial Institution.
The Youth Congress unit has also demanded unfolding alleged vicious politician-contractor scandal in Ramnagar." We also seek inquiry into as to where 50-odd crores of money spent in Ramnagar by IWDP have gone …... We also seek a detailed inquiry into as to how CDF of MLA Non-Plan and additionalites worth Rs. 284.024 lakhs have been spent in Ramnagar in full face of codal formalities by his relatives and cronies right from 1996 till today…….", the Youth Congress body has stated in the written communication adding further that norms have been flouted and irregularities committed in execution of work on Peuni-Tajoor road where Rs. 29.84 lakhs have been spent departmentally and work allotted to blue-eyed contractor of MLA without any tenders.
