Early Times Report
srinagar, Jan 8: In blatant contempt of orders of a competent court, SHO Police Station Khag in Budgam has refused to file an FIR despite clear direction from the court.
The court of Judicial Magistrate 1st class at Magam district Budgam directed in its order to SHO Police Station Khag to file an FIR regarding a case wherein a death certificate was issued in favour of a person in the year 2008, a year before he actually expired. But inspite of clear order, a copy of which is with Early Times, the SHO has not filed an FIR .
As per details available with Early Times, a death certificate was issued to a man year before he died. The documents reveal that Police Station Khag issued death certificate in favour of one Abdul Rehman Sheikh, son of Mohammad Abraheem Sheikh a resident of Drang Khankah in Tehsil Khag in 2008 but actually he died in 2009. "This is to certify that Abdul Rehman Sheikh Son of Muhammad Abrahim Sheikh died on 15-04-2008," states the death certificate issued by the Police Station Khag on 25/08/2011 under registration number 40/15-B/Khag.
In year 2009, a death certificate to the same person was again issued by Police Station Khag under registration number 208/15/-B/Khag.
When contacted Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Magam, Tahir Geelani said "we want to get hold of the original documents and on the court direction we have started investigation and after we get hold of the original documents we will take action against the culprits and even if our own men are involved we will not spare them "
The Police Station Khag in its letter no 806/S.A/PSK dated 29-12-2012 addressed to the SDPO Magam states that on the application of Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, the matter has been verified through HC 179/B2 who revealed that Abdul Rehman Sheikh son of Abrahim Sheikh resident of Drang Khankah has expired on 14-02-2009, Report to this effect stands entered in register no 15-B of the P/S under S.No 208 dated 14-02-2009. Accordingly death certificate mentioned above stands issued in the favour of Muhammad Abdullah Sheikh. Besides the wife of the deceased namely Zona Begum has managed the death certificate of her husband on 15-04-2008 for reasons best known to then Munshi of this Police Station. However, the deceased was alive during that period."
When contacted Nazir Ahmad Sheikh an RTI activist who actually exposed this whole scam by getting the copies of death certificates under RTI Act from Tehsil office Khag said that the culprits must be exposed who managed to get this certificate from the Khag police station.
