Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Nov 17: The state government's decision of holding annual examination for this year's academic session in March 2015 seems to be limited to corridors of power as complaints of violations by different private educational institutions continue to pour in on regular basis.
The latest complaint has come in from a school located in the Lal Bazar area in the outskirts of summer capital of the state. The school management has completed the final term examination for the students up to the seventh standard and the students are joining their new classes in few days time.
A group of parents whose wards are studying in Green Woods High School, Hubbi Colony, Lal Bazar told Early Times that the school management finished the examination with the last paper being conducted on November 15 (Saturday). The parents expressed anguish over the holding of examination saying that everything was done in a hush hush manner.
"The school management did not pay any heed to the government decision and also did not respect the suggestions of the parents. They went about the holding of examination in a hurry and wanted to get the things done by hook or crook. The concerned officials should take serious note over this and stern action should be taken against the school higher ups," said the parents.
The parents alleged that the government decision of holding the annual examination was virtually trampled over by the management of Green Woods High School while putting the students and the parents to trouble. They said the wards were not prepared for the examination after the announcement that examination would be held next year and not this year.
When contacted, Chief Education Officer, Srinagar, Javed Ahmad promised that stern action under rules would be taken against the school management. He said the complaint would be looked into and this would be followed by the necessary action by the Eeducation Department against the school management. "A flying squad has been constituted to check the violations going on in the Srinagar district. The team comprising of two principals, Zonal Education Officer and Chief Education Officer would be sent to the school and the records would be checked. It is our duty to ensure that nobody takes the government order for granted," said CEO Srinagar.
In the past as well complaints have come from different districts of Kashmir valley that many private educational institutions have violated the government order and have completed the final examination. However, up to this date no action whatsoever has been taken against such schools and they continue to carry on their operations.
