Sanjay Pathak Early Times Report KATHUA, Nov 17: Charanjeet Singh, who is seeking re-election as Independent Candidate from Kathua segment, is openly playing Modi Card because he has realised that there is a Modi wave and ignoring this ground reality would be cost dearly to him during polling. In Kathua Assembly segment, BJP is facing piquant situation because a strong candidate is also playing Modi Card to party finding it difficult to counter him. Singh, who has started his campaign two days back, addressed series of public meetings in different areas of Kathua city and adjoining localities. During these meetings Charanjeet Singh, who himself is known for honesty and integrity, lavished all praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his effort to provide corruption free governance in the country. "I am Modi's fan. I support attempt of BJP to form its own Government in J&K", he said in many meetings, adding, "BJP has set a target of 44 plus seats in elections if BJP got 43 seats I will be 44th member of Modi's team because I want to contribute in Modi's effort". The Independent candidate has reason to play Modi Card because he is very much aware that there is strong resentment among a section of BJP cadre against party candidate. By playing Modi card, Charanjeet Singh is trying to rope in those annoyed BJP leaders who have expressed their anger against imposition of outsider candidate. |
