Early times Report
srinagar, Mar 25: As the Governor's rule is about to end in Jammu and Kashmir the bureaucrats and officials have changed their side and are trying to appease their political bosses to secure their future.
Sources told Early Times that during the past two and a half months the officials remained in touch with the former Ministers and tried their best to implement the agenda of their political bosses. "Since the day political activities have resumed many officials have been visiting the residences of the politicians and are leaving no opportunity to drive home a point that they were incomplete without them," sources added.
They said that many officials who were shuffled in the recent past are desperate to get their chairs back and are ready to go to any extent. "The bureaucrats with political backing are hoping that once the political dispensation takes over good old days would return and they would be rehabilitated once again," sources added.
Insiders revealed that many officials who were in good books of their political bosses have been assured that they would be "rehabilitated" and would get the postings of their choice.
It's in place to mention here that soon after Governor NN Vohra took over the reins of the State in January this year he reshuffled the administration and axe fell on many officers who were posted at top positions due to their influence and close proximity to the politicians.
Sources said during the past two and half months a few officials have been taking part in the meetings of the political parties and were instrumental in passing on the messages from one side to another. "A few officials acted as a bridge between PDP and BJP leaders and ensured that both the parties don't turn their backs towards each other. On a few occasions these officials secretly organized meetings between the PDP and BJP legislators," claimed a source.
Insiders revealed that many officers were praying for Governor's rule to end soon as it had clipped their wings and had made them accountable. "Governor NN Vohra had made it clear to the officials that they have to either perform or perish. He (Governor) had kept the entire administration on toes and had set deadlines for the officials to deliver," they added.
Sources said that one more reshuffle was in offing in the administration had Governor's rule lasted for some more time. "During the past two and a half months officials somehow managed to put the list of corrupt officials on the back burner and prevented the Governor's administration from taking any action against the tainted officials," they said.
