Early times Report
JAMMU, Mar 25: In yet another case of gross deviation from the standing norms, the Vice Chancellor of Jammu University has failed to take required measures to streamline the evaluation process inspite of explicit directions from the Chancellor.
Information obtained under RTI reveals that the examination wing of the university goes beyond time frame fixed for declaration of results of examination being conducted by the institution of higher education and the officer heading the Examination wing is not exerting much to adhere to the time schedule of declaring the results of evaluation. The information provided by the University further revealed that the results of students who were pursuing their Master Degree in various courses at JU have to wait for more than four months to get Evaluation results due to sluggishness of management despite adequate personnel working in the Examination wing.
"The Examination Wing of JU took 117 days to declare the 4th Semesters result of 31 candidates of Botany, 177 days to declare the 2nd Semester result of 58 candidates of Education, 83 days to declare the 4th Semester result of 29 candidate of Geology, 106 days to declare the 4th Semester result of 20 candidate of Punjabi, 226 days to declare 2nd Semester result of 50 students of M.Sc Chemistry, 141 days to declare 4th Semester result of 46 students of M.Sc Chemistry, 196 days to declare the 2nd Semester result of a 55 candidates of MBA, 100 days to declare 4th Semester result of 48 candidates of MBA, 196 days to declare 4th Semester result of 51 candidates of Education, 158 days to declare 4th Semesters result of a 56 candidates of M.Com, and worst is the case where University took 140 days to declare the result of 2nd Semesters 09 students of M.A Punjabi", the RTI revealed, adding that there are more identical cases where the examination wing took more than four months to declare the results.
It further disclosed that the students of PG in the subject of Geology (Soil & Hydro) 2nd semester, Math 2nd semester, Information Technology 2nd semester, Economic 2nd semester, Chemistry 2nd semester, were held in May 2015 but the results of all the above mentioned subjects were declared on 24th March 2016, 17th March 2016, 29th Feb, 7th January, respectively which speaks the extent of seriousness with which the work is attended in the Varsity
It further disclosed that the students of various professional and academic courses including exams of Post Basic B.Sc Nursing 2nd year, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing 1st year, B.Sc Nursing 1st year were held in Oct 2015 but the results of all the above mentioned subjects were declared on 17th Feb 2016, 8th March and MBBS, MBA, MCA, LLB who were also the victims of lackadaisical tendency of Controller Examination of the University.
To set the record straight, the University Statutes say that result of the Evaluation must be declared within 45 days but the same is being flouted with impunity by none other than JU authorities themselves caring not a fig for the academic interests of the students reposing their faith in the University administration while seeking admission, the sources said, alleging that Vice Chancellor after taking over the reins of University did not endeavor to improve the key delivery systems, rather allowed the system to go from bad to worst pursuing the agenda of vindictiveness was against the scholars and students despite the fact that the Chancellor of the University directed the University authority during the University Council meet to streamline the Evaluation and Re-Evaluation mechanism enabling declaration of results within the time schedule of 45 days but who cares?
