Early times Report
JAMMU, Apr 5: Lal Singh, Sunil Sharma and Ajay Nanda, who on Monday were inducted by the newly-appointed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in her 22-member Ministry, showed blatant disregard for RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat & Co as well as the BJP as a party and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to establish "secular credentials. They instead of chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan chanted Jai Hind slogan. And they dared the RSS chief, the BJP national leadership and Maharashtra Chief Minister as soon as the National Anthem ended at the beginning of the oath-taking ceremony and the BJP activists and workers, who were among the audience as guests, chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai. They also chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan at the closing of National Anthem.
Choudhary Lal Singh, Ajay Nanda and Sunil Sharma knew that debate on Bharat Mata Ki Jai was raging across the country with the RSS & Co insisting on this slogan and fake secularist outfits like the Congress, the CPI, the CPI-M, the JDU, the Bahujan Samaj Party, the Nationalist Congress Party and the Muslim parties like the AIMIM of Asaduddin Owaisi and National Conference of Omar Abdullah questioning the insistence of the RSS and the BJP on chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan to prove nationalistic credentials.
Only on April 3, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had stirred fresh controversy by saying that those who had reservations chanting the slogan 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' have no right to live in the country. "If you want to live in this country then you have to say Bharat Mata ki Jai, otherwise you have no right to live here. Some people say we will not say Bharat Mata ki Jai. Then what do they want to chant? 'hail Pakistan' or 'hail China'?," Fadnavis had said.
On Monday, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev went several steps further and said that had he not been bound by the law of the land, he would have beheaded in lakhs those who refused to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan. He made this statement in Haryana while addressing a gathering of thousands.
Two weeks ago, the BJP national executive committee meeting in New Delhi had adopted a resolution on Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan. The resolution had said that those who would refuse to chant the Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan would be considered anti-national
Last month, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi had stirred a hornet's nest by rejecting RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's suggestion that the young generation be taught patriotic slogans like 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' stating that he won't chant the slogan "even if a knife is put to his throat".
It was in reaction to Asaduddin Owaisi's anti-national stand on Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan that the BJP, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Baba Ramdev lambasted those opposing this slogan under one pretext or the other. They had never imagined that they and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat would be shown thumb by their own men in the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir.
It is important to note that what Lal Singh, Sunil Sharma and Ajay Nanda did to show the RSS, the BJP, the Maharashtra Chief Minister and Baba Ramdev them their place has been noticed by one and all. However, it will be seen if the Bhagwat & Co censured or not censured these three BJP Ministers from Jammu.
The grapevine is that they will be let off. Those who held this view say that "after all, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also not chanted the Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan in the Srinagar public meeting that he addressed to garner support of Kashmiri Muslims in favour of BJP candidates seeking election to the Legislative Assembly". They did make a point and the point is that the RSS and its political wing, the BJP, are bereft of any ideology and, if anything, their ideology is power, power and only power and for power, the RSS and its affiliates could go to any extent".
