For helping land sharks of Punjab, SHO allegedly gets lakhs | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 29: A police officer, who is the SHO of one of the main police stations in Kathua district, is alleged to have received the first instalment of lakhs of rupees from the land sharks of Punjab for helping them to forcibly occupy a plot of land worth crores by intimidating their rival party. "There was a dispute between two parties over a piece of land in Kathua district. With the help of the police station karyakhaas, one party met the SHO a few days back and sought his help to occupy the land," police sources alleged. Sources said after the deal was struck, the SHO allegedly started harassing the other party. Though they said they possessed the valid revenue papers of the land, he threatened them of dire consequences in case they did not vacate it at the earliest, sources alleged. Sources alleged that the SHO teamed up with the Punjab-based party and also provided them all possible police help to forcibly occupy the plot. "Cops were also deployed there to ensure that the second party does not create any problem," sources alleged. After their rivals started work on the land, the second party approached senior police officers and lodged a complaint against the SHO, but no action was taken against him. Sources said the SHO, who had been heading an important police stations in Kathua district since long, had developed close relations with all his seniors and any legal action against him was unlikely to be taken. |
