Early Times Report

Jammu, Jane 29: It may sound absurd but it is shocking that local administration of Hiranagar tehsil utterly failed to provide justice to a poor family of Kootah still running from pillar to post with encroacher of their shop threatening them of dire consequences.
A judicial document in possession of Early Times reveals that Balkar Singh of Kootah had given his shop located at Kootah Morh to Balbir Singh R/O Badholi Hiranagar on rent basis on 15th Sept 2014 who was running his small time work of tailoring which was stealthily encroached in June 2015 by the family of Kuldev Singh R/O Kootah Morh with the active connivance of their son in law Sunil Singh of Tope Sher Khania, Jammu by breaking the wall of shop from back side at night locking the shutter from inside.
Narrating the tale of woes by a member of the affected family, it was told that when the tailor went to open the shop next morning, he found the shop locked from inside and they were shocked to find the wall of the shop broken from back side.
They told that in between at the same time two police men suddenly appeared on the scene and took keys of shutter from the owner of shop which were handed over by them (police men) to the culprit on spot.
This points a finger of suspicion on the complicity of local police in breaking the wall of shop which needs probe.
They further told that the belongings of the tailor and other material of the owner was removed and thrown out of shop causing huge loss to their property by the son in law of Kuldev Singh supporting his family.
The sources further told that the members of affected family immediately approached Police Station Hiranagar last year itself to lodge FIR for taking action in the matter, but police failed to do the needful although both poor husband and wife cried and literally wept before police.
After that they approached Tehsildar Hiranagar for getting justice and the concerned Patwari halqa Kootah visited the spot and confirmed in writing to Tehsildar that the wall of the shop had been broken, but no further action was taken by the former in favour of the genuinely aggrieved family. After receiving to positive response from the local administration and police for the undisclosed reasons , the culprit Sunil Singh felt highly emboldened and the ordeal of family of Balkar Singh started getting more trouble some for them with intensity making their life miserably hell.
The sources further disclosed and alleged that two months ago, the son of Balkar Singh was severely beaten by Sunil Singh along with few musclemen in full public view and he was also subjected to deep bite by a dog brought by them at the time of assault. Visibly shocked member of the family further informed that with the day light hooliganism of Sunil Singh and party crossing all the limits of lawlessness, they had no alternative but to approach the Hiranagar court which was kind enough to direct concerned Police station to enquire into the allegations of manhandling and beatings of a male member of affected family.
The sources further told that instead of lodging FIR against culprits and nabbing them, police in a bid to hush up the case referred it to Tehsildar Hiranagar, thus shuttling the poor family from one corner to other with no concrete help and protection of local police and civil administration to them.
The sources alleged that rather the authorities are making the aggrieved family scapegoat and is summoning them time and again in office for none of their fault.
The sources further told that due to apathy and careless handling of case by the concerned authorities which deserved promptness, the aggrieved family has become so perturbed and reached such a crucial impasse of life that they can take any extreme step to get riddance which may prove very costlier for the local police and civil administration, if remedial measures are not taken before it gets too late.
