Rajouri health centres crave for docs, staff

Rajouri, July 10: Of the 27 posts of Consultants / Medical Officers sanctioned under regular side in Nowshera Health Block in Rajouri district , 18 posts are lying vacant.
All the four posts of doctors , including 2 consultants Gynecologist & Pediatrician, at Rural Family Welfare Centre (RFWC) at Nowshera are lying vacant for the last many months.
Out of seven sanctioned posts of Medical Officers at Nowshera Sub District hospital two posts are lying vacant while few MOs have joined their postings recently.
According to Health Department guidelines every Public Health Centre (PHC) should have two Madical Officers) MOs) .
But no post of dctor has been sanctioned, as per health department records, for PHC at Androoth and its is being run by Dental Surgeon and a senior pharmacist.
Not only this all the Sub Health centres in this block situated in the villages situated along Line of Control (LoC) are being run either by Female Multi Purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) or by the junior Pharmacists while post of senior Pharmacists are lying vacant.
Senior Pharmacists and & FMPHWs in nexus with higher authorities have managed their postings in the health centres (sub centres, PHSCs etc) instead working in the centres situated near the borders.
"The district health department has been facing acute shortage of man power including doctors and senior pharmacists. The matter has already been discussed with the Director Health Services and placed before the higher authorities and it was hoped that soon no health centre would be without a doctor" said Dr Mohd Yousif, CMO.
No doctor was posted against sanction two posts of Medical Officers (MOs) at Androoth, Lamberi ,, Seeri & Laroka PHCs while one doctor is looking after the health of people in PHC at Langer.
"All the areas falling under these health centres under Nowshera Health Block are densely populated. Most of the villages including Sair , Makri, Bhawan, Lam , Laroka, Jhangar, Mohra Kampla, Rajpur Bhatta, Kanara etc under many health centres are situated near Line of Control. In the absence of civil health facility , army has been providing medical help to these people in case of any medical emergency" said Vinod Sharma, senior citizen,Nowshera.
Ravinder Raina, MLA, Nowshera said that two new hospitals at Sunderbani and Nowshera are under construction with a cost of Rs 17 and Rs 16 crores each.and they will be completed within next two years.
"As for as the present health situation is concerned under Nowshera Constituency , I have raised the issue of shortage of doctors , Pharmacist in the Assembly . The matter was also taken up with Bali Bhagat, Health Mintier. My priority is to provide doctor at every health centre" said MLA.
He added in case of shortage of doctors my efforts are to provide at least one senior pharmacist and one senior FMPHWs at every centre so that the people especially women may not suffer.
