Tale of two Ministers

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 7: With preparations for darbar move to the winter capital already underwaya, astoundingly two Ministers of Mehbooba Cabinet have not cared to come to Jammu during all these six months, making distinctly clear the significance these Ministers assign to Jammu.
Interestingly, both these Ministers, who are close friends, had expressed their anguish over the portfolios allocated to them initially when they were inducted in the state Cabinet and even refrained from assuming their offices for pretty long; as if they were highly dedicated to public service and wanted important portfolios so that they could deliver their utmost for the welfare of the people of this state. However, close to two years that they have been in office, it has been evident that they are Ministers of Kashmir only and have no affiliation with Jammu at all.
Sources in the Government disclose that these two Ministers have only furthered their business interests through their offices in the state Government and have pathetically blank report cards in terms of deliverance as Ministers. "They have flown to Delhi from Srinagar umpteen times in last six months, but have never cared to land at Jammu and take cognizance of the problems faced by the people of this province" said a Jammu based officer in Srinagar. "The only time one of these leisurely Ministers came to Jammu was to hold the elections of Cricket Association, which were otherwise stayed by the Court" he added. "The department of Technical Education is suffering badly, the public projects are held up, the working of colleges and technical board is flawed, but the Minister has no interest with the issues which directly concern the youth of the state" he added further pleading anonymity.
The other Minister who has no political or personal connect with Jammu has been inducted into coalition Government on BJP's quota, but still he has stayed completely indifferent to the needs and concerns of the people who brought BJP to power for the first time. "These Ministers were seen flying to Srinagar every week when Darbar was in Jammu previously, but they have not cared to travel to Jammu even once in all these months- this is ample indication that they have no bonding with Jammu and neither do they want to develop one" said a recently retired officer of the department of Social welfare.
Sources also disclosed that both these friends turned cabinet colleagues had lobbied hard to get the coalition Government in place after the demise of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, when the reconstitution of Government under Mehbooba was uncertain. "Their attitude after resuming their offices shows that they only wanted to enjoy power and use their positions to enhance their businesses" the retired officer said.
