US & China need to intervene to stop nuclear war between India & Pakistan
2/15/2018 9:32:10 PM
War or no war but there is need for equipping the entire Army and later the paramilitary forces with sophisticated weapons. India is already troubled by Pakistan and Pakistan trained militants in Jammu and Kashmir and field reports have conveyed to the Defence Ministry that INSAS does not serve the purpose. And in this connection the Defence Acquisition Council, the top decision-making body of the Ministry of Defence, has cleared the plan to acquire 7.4 lakh assault rifles to replace the standard INSAS rifles - a three-decade-old design. It also has cleared a plan to have 5,719 new sniper rifles at an estimated cost of Rs 982 crore. The weapons will be bought through the global tendering route. The DAC also okayed Rs 1,819 crore for "essential quantity" of new light machine guns (LMG). In this respect Modi's dream may come true because even with foreign collaboration these sophisticated weapons may be "Made in India" through the Ordinance factory and private industry could also play a role in the manufacture of these sophisticated weapons. And the Government of India has a plan of providing to men in the Infantry, the Navy and the Air Force, these assault rifles.
The assault rifles are for the three services. These will be "Made in India" through the Ordnance Factory Board and private industry at an estimated cost of Rs 12,280 crore. In January, the council had cleared a Rs 3,547-crore project to acquire 72,400 infantry rifles and 93,895 carbines for close-quarter encounters. To enhance the anti-submarine warfare capabilities of naval ships, it approved procurement of torpedo decoy systems. The "Mareech" system, developed by DRDO, has successfully completed extensive trial evaluations. It will be produced by Bharat Electronics Limited at a cost of Rs 850 crore. This indicates that even the public sector undertakings and the private sector were given the permission to manufacture these sophisticated weapons which the security personnel could use in close encounters. And since the mounting of tension on the Indo-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir these weapons may be used by the Indian troops to take care of infiltrators.
At the moment India and Pakistan are engaged in war of words and if super powers like the US, China and other nations do not intervene the situation on the border may turn into a war like era. To the India's Defence Minister's statement that Pakistan will have to pay price for what it has done in Jammu and Kashmir Pakistan's Defence Minister has countered her statement saying that Pakistan will not sit silent but give appropriate answer to any Indian misadventure, Well till this day during the last 28 years India forces have never indulged in misadventure. Its troops have been simply retaliating adventure or misadventure from Pakistani troops. In the wake of these developments it is better if the US intervene besides other development nations so that neither Pakistan nor India use the nuclear weapons. That is the only danger and since terrorists have been given safe haven in Pakistan there is danger that nuclear weapons, which Pakistan have, may not fall in the hands of terrorists.
