| Terrorists escape from encounter site, courtesy stone pelters | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 17: After two terrorists managed to escape on Friday during an encounter at Baramulla in North Kashmir has authenticated the allegations at PDP's policy to giving amnesty to stone pelters would help terror groups to strength their base in the Valley. During the last two years security forces have managed to eliminated a large number of terrorists including some self-styled commanders during 'Operation All-out' but decision of the PDP government to release nearly 9000 stone pelters would encourage terrorists.
It is first during the last six months that terrorists have managed to escape from the encounter site amid gun battle due to stone pelting. During the last six months, people were hesitating to throw stone of the soldiers during encounter due to fear of bullets but after government withdraw cases against 9000 stone pelters, 'agitational' terrorists again become active to save terrorists during encounters.
Already reported in the media, two terrorists had managed to escape during an encounter in Palhalan village of north Kashmir's Baramulla district that left at least four people, including a police officer, injured.
A heavy contingent of the Army, CRPF and Special Operations Group of the J&K Police had launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Tantaraypora, Palhalan, some 30 km from Srinagar, in the wee hours following a tip-off about the presence of local terrorists militant in the area.
As the combing operation was underway in the area to locate the militant, scores of people from the village tried to take out a march to disrupt it. Clashes broke in the area and police fired tear-smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesters, who resorted to stone-throwing. The clashes continued for hours.
