KC College of Education observes Swachta Pakhwada

JAMMU, Aug 16: The fortnight long cleanliness and awareness program (Swachta Pakhwada) was observed by K.C. College of Education from 1st August to 16th August.
It was in a response to the Prime Minister's call for country wide cleanliness drive and awareness about health and hygiene. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjay Tickoo, Principal of the college on 1st August, 2018. The fortnight long programme was carried out by the N.S.S. unit of the college. All the volunteers along with the staff members were administered the oath to give their best in making the programme a success. The drive started on 2nd August with carrying out the cleanliness of the college premises which lasted a few days up to 5th August.
On 6th August the volunteers of NSS visited the adopted village Udheywala to spread awareness about ODF carry out cleanliness drive; this drive lasted up to 8th of August. On 9th and 10th of August, cleanliness drive of nearby slum areas was carried out. The NSS volunteers along with the programme officer and other faculty members visited old age home on 11th of August. The volunteers and the staff members interacted with the inmates of old age home and spent time with them shared their views and made them feel pleased. On 12th and 13th of August, the cleanliness drive of Vivekanand Hospital was carried out by the NSS volunteers.
The volunteers devoted their time in cleaning the different wards and corridors of the hospital, further the new by 'Gowshalla' was also visited by the team members, where the surroundings of the cows was cleaned on 14th and 15th of August, an awareness rally was taken out in the nearby adopted village Udheywala. The rally was flagged of by Principal of the college. The students chanting the slogans of Swachta reached the centre of the village and interacted with the inmates of the locality.
The Swachta Pakhwada concluded on 16th of August, 2018. Principal of the college Dr. Sanjay Tickoo interacted with the students who formed a part of the team carrying out the programme. He lauded the role of students in making the programme a grand success. He further appreciated the role of programme officer Priya Gupta who put all her efforts for the successful completion of all the events in the fortnight long programme.
