| Locals of Tanda block Jammu-Poonch Highway over low voltage | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 20: Vehicular traffic on the Jammu-Poonch Highway was disrupted for over one hour as locals of Panchayat Kotli Tanda in Akhnoor blocked the road in protest against the Power Development Department and local MLA over low voltage of electricity.
As per reports, locals assembled outside Tanda Grid Station and raised slogans against the PDD and MLA AKhnoor for low voltage in their area for last many days.
Protestors alleged that they have repeatedly informed the department for low voltage in the area but the department had never paid any heed to their grievance.
"Recently, the department has installed a new transformer in the area which is of low capacity resulting which the problem of low voltage erupted in their area", said a local Sunil Kumar adding that probe should be ordered to inquiring the facts why department has installed low capacity transformer in their area.
He further demanded that their electricity bills of one month should be waived off.
After getting the information, Naib Tehsildar concerned and Station House Officer (SHO) Akhnoor reached the spot and pacified the protestors and further assured them that their problem would be addressed within 24 hours. |
