Students' entry restricted during counselling by GCET Jammu | | | Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 20: Infighting between the Government College of Engineering and Government Polytechnical Jammu, and Jammu and Kashmir State Board of Technical Education is putting number of the students' future in jeopardy. Despite students having confidential result cards, the management of the GCET Jammu didn't allow the students to take part in ongoing counselling and asked them to show original certificates. A group of students, whose results withheld due to their backlog, have got confidential results sheets from the JKSBOTE a few days back for appearing in the counselling conducted by the officials of the GCET Jammu and students were asked to approach concerned Principal for admission. "When we visited in the GCET Jammu, we were told that we cannot take part in the counselling as we are not eligible for that, and again we were asked to request the concerned officials of their institute to declare result within days if they want to get admission, "students told, adding that when they approached concerned authority and even officials of the JKSBOTE, only received assurances from them instead of making any solution. "Owing to lackadaisical approach towards the future of these students, of the concerned authority, we are about to lose the opportunity and waste one year without any our fault. What is our mistake, if there is any communication gap between JKSBOTE and GCET Jammu as officials GCET claimed that they didn't get official communication from the above said Board, "students stated. They asked if they will not get admission this time then, who will be held responsible? Thing is that whatever the excuses made by the concerned authorities but ultimately it will go against their future and no one is there to look into the matter. Earlier, Principal of GCET Dr. Sameru Sharma claimed that they didn't receive any confidential results list so far and students have, then how students, whose result is pending, will allow. On being asked it is the question of students' future, she replied as "I asked our officials that we can allow them in counselling session but they refused by saying there is no provision to do so and it is job of concerned authority to declare the result timely so that deserving students would not be suffered. Contesting the claims of the GCET Principal, Secretary, JKSBOTE Er. Mahmood Ahmad Khan said that a confidential list was forwarded to the GCET Jammu and requested that to accommodate students, who have got the confidential result. |
