GP fund scam in Health deptt: No action yet | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 20: The government is yet to take action on the report submitted by Health department Kashmir in the probe in G.P. fund scam in north Kashmir's Bandipora district. In February this year, following the expose about generation of fake General Provident Fund numbers in the Health department Bandipora, the government had attached 20 officials including 16 Block Medical Officers (BMOs) who had served in Bandipora from 2007. Sources said that following the expose, a committee was constituted to investigate the matter. According to an order (No. 104/NG of 2018, dated 02-02-2018), "a committee is to be constituted separately that will investigate the matter of fake G P Fund account numbers in different BMOs in Bandipora. Till the submission of the final report of the committee, 20 officers are attached and directed to report DHSK," the order had said. However, sources in the Health department told Early Times that the government has so far failed to take action in this regard. A top official in the Health department said they have submitted the report to the government. "Now it is up to the higher authorities in the Secretariat to take action," said the official who insisted not to be named. He said that the government had issued orders of stopping of salary of Chief Medical Officer Bandipora along with all the drawing and disbursing officers heading the Health blocks. Sources said that it had come to the fore that Health department Bandipora had generated fake GP Fund subscription numbers to accommodate employees. "The fake GP Fund subscription numbers were allegedly generated by few officials in CMO office Bandipora to accommodated employees illegally recruited in violation of norms during last few years across the district," sources said. GPF subscription numbers were found fake after the officers in local fund office smelt rat in the appointment of newly 'recruited employees' and initiated investigation into the records pertaining to new entrants in the department. Sources said that over 129 GPF subscription numbers were proved fake after the investigation. The numbers pertain to the employees who were recruited in volition of norms from the year 2005 t to 2016. Among the 129 fake GPF subscription numbers, 26 were from block Bandipora, 17 from Block Hajin and 86 from block Gurez. |
