Early Times Report

Vijaypur, Oct 18: Although Government has been pumping huge funds for the development of border villages under Border Area Development Programme but the dilapidated condition of nearly 15 km road in Ramgarh area of district Samba indicates that area has been neglected and no fund has been utilized for its restoration.
Sources said that there is around 15 km of border road from village Kolpur to Rangoor to Ranga village in tehsil Ramgarh of District Samba, which cater about the 8000 populations residing the connecting villages, is in total dilapidated condition and big potholes have become death trap for the commuters. "The situation becomes more grave during border firing by Pakistan and rainy season when these potholes are filled with water and the road literally turns muddy and slippery making difficult for the vehicles to cross over the road," they said further adding that during any emergency particularly during border firing when injured are shifted to Vijaypur Hospital it makes things worse for the injured.
They said that although government claims that BADP fund is utilised for welfare, development and restoration of roads in the border villages but fact of the matter is that the utilization is not visible on ground particularly on this road which connects several villages in Ramgarh sector.
If BADP was properly utilized, the conditions of the road would have been different but ground situation exposes the empty claims of government, they said. The locals alleged that concerned administration in totally invisible to take notice of the serious problem of this area and suspect misappropriation of BADP fund.
Astonishingly, being border area, the movement of Army, BSP and police continues round the clock and they also face same problem in crossing these roads. At times their vehicles got stuck in the potholes and then tractors in the local areas are called for the help, they said.
